It is really sad, but true.
I often envy women who can strut their stuff in their high heels. They make it look easy: but to me, it isn't. I just can't get along with heels. I am starting to realize I never will.
Do you have trouble walking in heels? Or are they second nature to you? How old were you when you started wearing heels? Do you have a vast collection of shoes?
Again, it is sad for me. But other women - like yourselves - do enjoy wearing high heels. Anyhow, I look forward to your replies!
I don't have any trouble at all. Well unless they are to high but even then I can manage. I have been wearing them for what seems forever but realistically it was around the time I was when I finished high school that I started wearing more than kitten heels. Oh and i have more than I can count.
I am Ok with heels but, being so unpredictable, often end up walking further than I planned. It is tiring but the main issue I find is wearing them out lol. These days I have a change handy so I can change if I need to. I can be a bit heavy on shoes.
I'm awkward in high heels. I don't like them anyway, so I don't mind lol I try to get the shortest ones possible whenever I can... if the dress code calls for being fancier of course. I also prefer them to have a thicker heel part.. not the skinny types.

Hello Popcorn&Candy,
Do not feel bad for not being able to walk in heels, I am a professional model and I can tell you there are A LOT of people in the industry even that just cannot walk in heels. Whether it be because their ankles aren't strong enough or they just can't stay coordinated. Either or, don't be sad, there are plenty of women, who like you cannot walk in heels.
I thankfully do not have trouble walking in heels. Well, okay, let me rephrase, I usually don't have trouble walking in heels. Sometimes when I'm on set for a long period of time (5-8 hours about) I start to get foot pains or leg pains. I can also feel my ankles start to shake, but thankfully we usually have breaks so I can take a break from heels for a half hour or so making it easier to stay in heels longer. Still, by the end of the shoot I'm usually wobbling over everywhere haha
To be honest I love wearing heels, I've been practicing walking in heels since I was about 5 or 6. I used to steel my moms high heels and walk in the basement with them. Let me tell you, learning to walk in heels that are WAY TOO big for me helped me with my balance when I finally got my first pair of heels that fit.
I have a collection of 12 pairs of heels and I'm wanting to buy more To be fair, I am a model and we are expected to always carry at least a pair spotless black high heels and spotless skin tone high heels.
When I'm not on set I still enjoy wearing heels, though I don't usually wear heels if I have far to walk just because I feel like it isn't good to go days and long periods with heels on all the time.
What are your struggles when you try to wear heels? Is it coordination, ankles wobbly...? I'd love to hear what prevents you from strutting your stuff in heels because I don't think it's a loss cause just yet
You are allowed to be both a masterpiece and a work in progress ::s_rkiKSaleMfvCHL5h6k::

Thank you, IBelieveInYou.
I had assumed all women in fashion wore heels: but I was wrong. In fact, statistics have said that sales of stilettos have had a dramatic decrease. More and more women are wearing flat/flatter shoes than ever before. And also brands like Hotter - and other female shoe shops - are catering for those women. Flats used to be dull: but now they're far more stylish.
Flat does not have to equal boring. PLUS, you can buy any shoe online: you don't have to go to a physical shoe shop. As long as you know your shoe size and whether you're a wide fit or not.

I must agree that the demand (and want) of high heels isn't really high at all. They have come out with some scary statistics about how damaging high heels can be on your feet and that it can actually leave your feet permanently crimpled or damaged. I say to each their own, if wearing heels makes you feel good, sexy, confident etc. then awesome! Wear them! But make sure to always buy COMFORTABLE shoes/heels. If you're going to be on your feet all day you might as well enjoy being on your feet

It depends what you call flats.
These are my favourite flats, though I have trainers for dog walking.

I would love to see those stats.
I reckon high heels are worn too little to make any difference.

So true. I have also read before it's bad for your spine/back if worn too often. Comfort is key!
I used to wear heels and I never had any trouble. I started wearing them when I was about 15.
However two back injuries and now the artrose in my leg joints makes it impossible the pain is terrible so Ive given up.
Also I hate women who walk around like ducks bum sticking out knees bent trying to waddle along.. they look so daft.
Oh my! GIRLLLL do I have a story for you!! Okay so I was getting my comp card pictures updated/taken in the studio and my agent had advised me that we may get interrupted during the shoot as she had some interviews to do in her office. So we start the shoot and the first girl comes in, does her interview and leaves, all is good. Then a few hours later the second girl comes in and does her interview but when she gets out of my agents office my agent asks that she takes a full body picture of the girl as she decided to hire her. My agent asked her to put on heels and to do a catwalk while the photographer takes pictures of her in between our takes. I kid you not, she puts on the heels, you can tell she was not comfortable in as she's waddling with her knees bent down the stage. She looked SOOOOO awkward even when she was trying to pose but it seemed like she felt like she was the sexiest, smoothest walker. It was definitely difficult not to laugh, we were all trying not to giggle or laugh so they just did the 1 catwalk and called it a day. When we played the pictures back we could not breathe from laughter. Holy man, it looked like she had the duck lips and her pictures were so awkward and not useable. My agent then said "Well f**k, next time I'll remember to ask them to wear heels before hiring them" hahahaha I must say, it was the most entertaining comp card shoot I've ever had.
The girl has since gotten MUCH better with walking in heels and every few years or so when some of us talents get together she always shows the pictures of her terrible first catwalk and tells the new talents that as long as they are willing to work hard, it doesn't matter what they can and can't do today.

Haha! She sounds like a true inspiration. Glad she can also laugh about it now and share her awkwardness with others to relate with those who are also awkward at first.

High heels can cause some spinal damage, that comes from tipping the pelvis, which is why high heels give you a nicer butt.

I had a member of staff, who walked perfectly well in flats, and always looked quite elegant.
The first night out I saw her in heels, I could hardly take my eyes off her. She had bent so far at the waist her bum was behind her feet, and her nose was in front of them when she walked. It wasn't much better when she stood still.
She was a nasty bitch, and I took some sad pleasure from that.
I suppose for those with the money there were always finishing schools where young women went to learn to talk, communicate and do things like learn to walk correctly in heels, like a lady lol. Visions of late teens with books on their heads! They maybe still exist but, whether or not, there is a skill to it.

I do try to do 'elegant' if I can, and I still love the lady who told me I always am. I know I should have offered her money, but I never thought about it at the time.
But I would never have persevered with learning it to any real standard.
