I should already know this lesson, but today was a good example of why you should drive yourself to gatherings with your family - a lunch out with my dad driving became an entire afternoon out, and I had assumed I didn't need to pack a snack. I was getting a little shaky feeling (from low blood sugar) by the time I got home to make supper, since lunch was made by others and didn't include enough protein. People, I need protein!!!
It was still very fun, and the kiddos were just fine even though I was gone longer than expected. Whew!
Also, I had a phone call while I was out that has me very excited. We might just get our previous education assistant back, and he was so awesome at the job! (Most have not clicked with my kids, so they don't provide much educational help!) If Sam's coming back to town, I could also offer to give him more hours again with autism funding plus possibly even respite funding. (He filled in as a behaviour interventionist even before the EA job.)

Yesterday I did my usual mid week grocery shop then on to art group. It's that time of year again - a member brought some apples off her tree for everyone. Now is the time of plenty

Why not make apple crumble out of them? With lashings of custard, of course!
Odds and sods this morning, and taking back the step daughter's tv for a refund. This afternoon, we went clothes shopping, and the so chose a pair of specs.

I only had a rhubarb crumble earlier in the week. That may well happen
Yesterday was one of those days when I seemed to have boundless energy. I went out and had a long walk out in different areas that I have not been since the covid time in 2020. I, sort of, almost got lost at times. It was lovely weather. Sunny but with a nice breeze. Excpet for seeing a couple of cars on a short raod stretch and a man, at a distance, walking his dog when I got nearer home again I only saw one other person. A woman I came across walking her two dogs, This was literally in the middle of nowhere, althiugh it was someone who I have met on my travels before. The dogs were just drying themselves out from a dip in the nearby stream.
Later the last of my watchstraps was delivered along with the tool for changing them, so in the afternoon I got to work. On one strap I couldn't get the pins out, even with the tool, but luckily the strap i bought to replace it was supplied with new pins so I just cut the old ones out. Hopefully things should be Ok for a while now, although one or two of the cheaper straps are a bit iffy. As usual you get what you pay for. For a_muppet , and anyone else interested I show a photo I took of the strap changing tool. I used the forked end for the pins but it looks as if there is a little punch at the other end for other types of fitting. For £2 it did seem a good buy as it made things so much easier. It looks like it could be something easy to make but not worth the bother if changing a few.
My next tip of the day, unless you are already aware of it. I needed to mark out some fabric to an ellipse through a precut wooden hole, ready for cutting. It was replacing fabric over a loudspeaker in a cabinet. After um'ing and ah'ing over the usual marking tools which I generally find unsatisfactory I realised I could use a watercolour (artist's) pencil. Just a dip into water which turns the tip to paint and then marking. In my case I didn't really need to but, being watercolour, it will wash out easily. Note: I was using white. Some other colours, such as indigo, could stain though.

I went grocery shopping today. I also popped into the library and borrowed three books. I later helped my sister prepare dinner and spoke to a friend tonight on the telephone.
I was off to a good start this morning. I checked the car, cut the grass, trimmed the hedge and watered the plants.
Then - relax with pampering and a lazy lunch.
While I was in the bathroom it sounded like the Lancaster was going to fly in through the window. I didn't see it but, once heard, you cannot mistake those four Merlins thundering out. It must have been very low, although that's not uncommon. I suppose it was going to the Blackpool airshow, which is on today and tomorrow.

The power was out all over town on Friday, and now we're under a boil water notice until water test results come in clear. First results aren't due until Monday. A tad annoying, but I had two water jugs already, so I had a headstart. I've boiled some and will do more in the morning. Might also buy more jugs if that seems more convenient. I think I should always have a couple for this possibility, plus water main flushing, etc.

Other than that, great day relaxing here!
You could buy stackable jugs? They will take up less space when no longer needed.

Someone knows their WWII bombers.
Lincolnshire has the nickname "Bomber County". There are probably very few people who live here don't know. It also helps that the battle of Britain memorial flight are based in the county and individual aeroplanes, including the Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane often fly around.
Not to forget that I have my flight simulator program too. Although I don't fly a Lancaster there is a model / software which can be downloaded for free on the forum I visit.
I was on the couch watching all kind of shows on TV, did the hot tub for 30 min, now dinner and watching the closing ceremony. I must say, this is the Olympic with the lowest budget I have ever seen, or at least it looks like it.
The music is a mess of confusion, I could not make anything out of such a mess of noises.

My stepson and his partner were due to visit this morning so I got out for my walk early, which had the advantage of missing the really hot sun. It was another strange one. I went over a route I have never been on before and the only person I met was yet another (different) woman walking two dogs way out of inhabited places. Where have all the walkers gone, as it was before nine in the morning? It was getting hot though and the woman commented that she may have to trun back because of the heat and her dogs.
My stepson did pop in, a little later. They have just returned from Lanzarote; a weeks holiday.

You have reminded me of when Sugar was young. When she saw solo walkers, she always looked behind them, and you could see her thinking "Have you lost your dog?"

I woke to a thunderstorm. We don't want any more wildfires from lightning (two sprang up this weekend a few kilometres away over the mountains) but I do love the sound of thunder!
Everyone got their regular laundry done yesterday, so I reminded them about changing bedding and that's almost all there is for today's laundry. Nice! I'll sort and put away later - aiming to have empty baskets the same day rather than procrastinating and hiding the clean things in the laundry closet...
I did exercise indoors this morning as the storm lingered. I tend to look for things to tidy up at the same time, so I was able to take care of that task when I had put it off before.
I also drove to my parent's place because they're on a different water system. I filled up two jugs and Mum gave me two more. Got a text after lunch that the notice is over, but I'd rather have extra water stored up than not enough if the notice were extended.
Still ahead today: Will likely check in with the budget and transactions over the last week. I also have a snail mail letter to finish writing. If not today, hopefully tomorrow!
(I edited to reduce the number of exclamation marks. Sometimes they abound because I get a little overeager while chatting... LOL)
