I'm not scared of bugs, but I don't want them in my home. Again, there is mischief where you can't see. I certainly keep my apartment clean and as tidy as possible, so I quickly notice a bug and put it outside. I won't kill them because they ARE one of god's creatures. But I definitely don't want them in my apartment!
Just remember to place them well away from the house. I once put a spider outside and found it back inside again within half an hour. I know it was the same one as it had only seven legs and was one of those big ones we have which are easy to recognise. It liked it's home comforts
Despite living next to the woods, we have very few bugs. Though we do have a large spider that lives in our sitting room.
Have you given him/her a name?
I write the above because I LOVE spiders and would love a pet spider. Why not name it? Plus, it's good that you've allowed it to have its home. Spiders are lovely creatures and do deserve a happy life.

Yes, he is named 'big spider'. We also have a vole that runs past our french windows, he is called 'voley'. Occasionally, we get 'mousey' climbing in out waterfall, and before we got rid of the bird feeder 'ratty' called regularly.
Just remembered, there is also 'Maggie' the magpie.
Incidentally, you do all know that spiders attract bugs? Their webs give off a smell that brings them in. They don't just crash into the webs for the fun of it.
I feel bad to spray the bugs.. I like them, though. They don't bother me, and they're just doing their part in the ecosystem.
What about in the house though?
I let them outside if I can catch them, unless it's something that eats house pests, then I leave them be if they aren't in my way.... although, if we get an ant infestation that starts to try to come inside, then we use a borax sugar mixture.
The only things I kill are mosquitos because they attack me lol

I saw a small spider - no, two actually - one yesterday and one today. I just let them be. They don't bother me and leave me alone, so I make the courtesy of leaving them alone. Plus, they control other bugs for me.
Would you? If it was your money and your job that made that money, would living in a mansion appeal?
Personally for me: no. I'd have to employ staff to clean the mansion. There'd be too much space for me to be alone: one person rattling around in a mansion? And what on earth would I do with myself all day? I will always live in an apartment. I'd never live in a mansion: or even a large house. It's a job in itself.
Your preferences?
I dated someone once who lived in two mansions in the SF Bay area and while they were nice (esp stuff like the showers, gardens, etc..,) I always felt like I was in a museum or showroom. It just wasn't something I like. I prefer the cottage life: cosy, warm, full of good scents, windows open and hearing the birds sing in the morning.

Cottage life is wonderful: I know this because my aunt in Ireland lives in a cottage. It is cosy, small, homely and quaint. I LOVED going on holiday there with my dad. We used to go there nearly every year.
Ireland - when you have access to a car - is beautiful. I am absolutely in love with Ireland.
If any of you ever get the chance to go there, take that opportunity. Also, I'd advise hiring a car.

I have only been there on a one day bus trip from Wales but, from what I saw, it is beautiful.
I love Ireland. It's where my grandparents and great-grandparents come from. Stepping off the plane in Dublin gave me a feeling of coming home.
I'm happy that my son and his family live there and are living in a village not far from Dublin. It means I get to visit a beautiful place and a beautiful family. As for living there I think Ireland is even wetter than Holland and that's saying something, I don't know if I could manage so much damp air!

Ireland is certainly very rainy, cassie! It'd be different living there, but every time I step off that airplane in Ireland, I also feel I've come home. There is an energy there: an atmosphere many find alluring.
Ireland is one of my favourite countries in the world.

We had a long holiday in ireland when I was a kid, and I have some great memories. It was my dad's choice, as he wanted to visit his relatives.
I am also 25% irish, and 12.5% english, the rest is scottish.

My husband is 25% each of the followings: German, Italian, French and Irish. He got dark brown hair and dark brown eyes, fortunately. Had he gotten the blond hair and blue eyes from his monther's side, I would not be attracted to him. While I think women with blond hair and blue eyes are good looking, I don't think the same goes for men.
I think I am 100% English. As far as I know we have no-one from elsewhere although with my mother it is unsure as she was adopted. I have never been really bothered about genetic tests for race though.
Mums mum was English but her grandparents on the maternal sidewere Irish and Cornish, mums dad and his family was from Cork..So back to the Emerald Isle again...
I know on my dads side his mother was Irish Dublin and born in a street just behind the Guinness plant at St James Gate. His father is unknown and this may be about to cause problems.. My nan ran away when she got pregnant she was unmarried and everyone thought his dad might have been a soldier English or US, but on his birth certificate nan put her brothers name and everyone has said she did this to hide the fact she wasnt married... But what if she wasnt lying? What if it wasnt her shame she was running from?
My niece is building the family tree shes done a DNA test and that has bought up interesting results ( she says) now she wants me to do one so she can see where dads family especially his dad fits in... The fact that my surname was never legally my name is enough of a headache I dont want to share with authorities finding that the DNA came ony from St James Gate might be more than anyone bargained for.

My knowledge came from my brother who got tested.
I suppose I ought to get tested, and see what my predisposing conditions are.... I can't say as I really want to know though, as I have no idea how I will feel about that.

That's fascinating. A woman of mystery.
Not sure about that.. Poor dad , his mother married soon after he was born his birth certificate was never legally changed nor was he ever legally adopted by the husband , but his baptism certificate was in his stepfathers name and says 'formally known as xxx' giving his mothers name.
There turned out to be two entries of marriage in the town hall register, one in his assumed name and one in his legal name.. We all went by the assumed name but legally??
If I never was who I thought I was how does that leave me legally speaking? Im guessing because Ive never tried to use it to defraud anyone it would be ok but Im not tempting fate by poking a stick in the wasps nest !

The saying 'Let sleeping dogs lie' comes to me, or even 'Ignorance is bliss'. It's one reason why I have never been that interested in investigating. I know that there is apparently strong rumours of someone in our family tree having some kind of affair with someone of higher standing (as it was years ago) with the usual consequences but somewhat distant from our part of the tree. My niece and a cousin are both independently assembling the family tree although I haven't seen their current results.

LOL that's great.
Our tree goes back about four generations, then my sister got stuck, and no-one else was bothered enough to add any on from that.

I was about to say the same . Cassie can be on TV for this. There used to be a show about people who were searching for relatives.

No chance, the relatives I have give me headaches I dont want any more of them crawling out of the woodwork...
If some long lost person turned up Id be most likely to run!
I used to own a 600 year old house. 3 times people turned up and claimed some ancestral history. Muggins here, showed them round, but constantly thinking "Why am I doing this?
One of them did return with some interesting pictures and historical documents.

I often walk past a house I used to live in when I was little. It is not 600 years old but is fairly old. I sometimes think of knocking on the door, perhaps more to update them as to how primitive it was years ago. I look around though at all the other changes locally and think that they would probably not understand a lot of the context.
