I now have two women's magazines to read, which I am looking forward to! I have always read magazines
I don't usually read magazines, but I made an exception for a Star Trek magazine (now Star Trek Explorer from Titan Publishing in the UK). I've also started picking up a DaySpring magazine called Everyday Faith. I gave my mum the Christmas issue after I read through it, and told her maybe sharing it will be something that motivates me to read it after I buy it - sometimes magazines sit for a while by my chair because I forget them when I've got time to read!
I dont read the traditional women's magazines ,the ones full of diet and make up stuff but I do have a subscription to country life. It has some very interesting subjects and the recipe section is fantastic, good wholesome food not fancy fashion stuff.
I spent a good four hours reading this morning: and it was a bittersweet story to read. It had soul and enchantment and I am glad I borrowed it from the library.
I now have two women's magazines to read, which I am looking forward to! I have always read magazines: ever since 14 years old. I read Sugar and Just 17 back in the day. Happy times!
I don't read magazines much. I realised, years ago, that it worked better to buy books rather than the more technical magazines although I do have a few sewing magazines. I tend to get irritated by the adverts in women's magazines - in fact probably all magazines. That's one thing you don't usually get in books.

I wouldn't read from a Kindle myself BUT I have heard it is good. Plus, if someone finds having to turn pages annoying - but love reading - a Kindle is a great investment: or even Christmas present.

in my kindle sadtimes, I was lying on the bed, looking at the ceiling, while holding the kindle, and it slips and bust me on the face. Also, the auto-screen flippy thingy is sad if you are on the bed moving and rolling around a lot, it drives me nuts, but if you hold it right, and put on the lock screen, I like it.
I do but I am not into the romantic, celebrity bio...I read stuffs like John Grisham, Andy Weir, Thomas Friedman, Scott Turow, Dean Coontz, Alison Weir...I am not into poems either.
what types of books are these? like mysteries or something?
Grisham and Turow are crime, suspense Alison Weir wrote about English History Andy Weir: Science Fiction Thomas Friedman: Politics, Foreign affairs, globalization Dean Koontz: Suspense thriller

No, I don't have a Kindle but see too much of a screen anyway. I prefer real books. I did have personal use of an ipad from work and did occasionally read on that but now I have left I no longer have one.

yeah, books are better huh. smells good, sanctification of turning a page, page sounds well that's how I see it.
My pile of books to read seems to be climbing ever and ever higher at the moment. I can see 23 on the front side of the pile so it must be in the region of thirty. I get them when I see them at the book exchange and like to take them while they are available. On the other side of things though I have been clearing out a lot of my old books, so have been exchanging rather than just taking.
For anyone interested, this is the book exchange I visit. In an old telephone box once housing the village telephone. I remember showing it on FF but I don't think here:

I miss those magazines that used to be on the newsstands.
Also, Cosmopolitan magazine isn't very good anymore. It is such a shame. They cater for women in their 20's: women who work in the city, wear high heels, wear heavy makeup, wear expensive clothing, get physical a lot [you know what I mean]. That is why I now stick with "Woman & Home" and "Good Housekeeping" magazines. I don't suit Cosmo anymore.

I think older women are pretty. I saw one with all white hair, long too, I thought that was very pretty. I want my wife to have that too....when we get there. I hope I still have hair.
Hubby has a few subscriptions, and I subscribe to only one...a cooking magazine.
Do you actually follow the recipes in it, TestDummyCO? Or do you just flick through it?
I'd follow one or two recipes out of the magazine. In fact, I'd love to try some of ther desserts in the two magazines I mentioned in previous posts. I LOVE desserts and making one appeals to me.
