Shell HAS to keep her nose above water because there is a bee on it! But, to her point; we may choose to ignore some things, but that doesn't mean that they don't exist.

I'm talking about just one person now. If you research it, you'll understand what I mean. Gray didn't care about "Black lives Mattering"; he was too busy dealing narcotics to young Black kids. Their lives didn't matter to him.

I get what you are saying and I agree with it, but...
The reason people don't like stereotypes is because it risks oversimplifying things and causing people to be prejudiced towards innocent people.
When people say,"Black people commit more crime" for instance, instead of helping find ways to get them out of poverty, most people use that statement to try to prevent them from moving into their neighborhood. They actually use it to keep them from getting jobs, to make sure they are poor, and to make sure they have less options to turn to besides crime, instead of using it to help them.
And I think a lot of minorities have faced so much racism in their life that they are very sensitive about their race. Anyone would be sensitive about anything that people have tried to attack them for over and over again. So until we get over racism, it's difficult to have a discussion like this without people getting emotional about it. And with good reason. Because there's also going to be a bunch of racists chiming in during these discussions and saying horrible things as well. Racism has to die for us to be able to talk about these things calmly.
But I do agree that they need to be talked about and dealt with. There's just so many open wounds for people.

Yes I agree with everything you say.
But, are there cultural issues other than poverty that lead to crime?
The truth is, we don't really know.
We put people in jail and throw away the key.
Our focus has always been punitive instead of investigative.
So in the US we have more than a million people in jail, that invariably come out worse than they go in bc we would rather put them in chain gangs, squandering the one opportunity we may have for finding the causal social issues that led them there.
Our stupidity in magnified in elementary schools where anti crime education should begin, instead of waiting for the crime.
The US relies heavily on entrapment, leading to arrest, conviction, incarceration, and now the criminal cycle of a life of crime is initiated.

I do agree that once you go to jail, it turns into a cycle. People out of prison are rarely reformed and because of their records, they can't get jobs, so they turn back to crime. What else are they going to do with their lives?
My husband has an extended family member who purposefully commits a crime whenever he leaves jail because he's been in jail for decades and the "real" world scares him. We have all these things now that we didn't have before he first went to jail, like computers and smart phones and jail just makes more sense to him.
It's hard to say what "one" thing causes anyone to commit a crime because it can be a variety of things depending on the person. I've just known enough people in poverty and struggled some myself to know what kind of mentality it can give you. How desperate it can make you. That's why I mentioned it.

I'm going to say that it can be cultural, but not always.
Like, people who are sociopaths. They don't all commit crimes, but some of them do if they think they can get away with it, because they have no conscience. And I'm not saying they kill people, they might do things like embezzle money or steal an identity if they think they won't get in trouble and that it will benefit them enough.
All that has to do with is how their brain was formed, I suppose. Nothing to do with culture.

Studies have shown that people raised within crime families, neighborhoods, etc. have a much greater propensity to commit crime.
Minorities often argue or ignore these as inaccurate and racist.
These are social challenges.
Whites cannot simply blame crimes on minorities, as a minority and not a white issue also.
Non-whites must admit minorities commit more certain crimes than others.
If we are willing to work together, non prejudicial, we may be able to make real strides toward crime prevention than marching and burning properties, after the fact.
Police need more, and more continual training.
The police see horrible incidental crimes, often daily. Over time, they become cynical, even vengeful. They need more help than they are getting.
Interesting fact about criminals. They are reluctant to visit doctors and very reluctant to visit the dentist. They tend to have below average health and well below average teeth.

I'll go back to one of Cher's earlier posts. She said that if we treat one group differently from another then we ourselves are racist. Whether it be colour, race, religion, etc., treat others the way that you would like to be treated by them. I know that there are many factors involved here, but why is it that so many poor families are able to raise nice children? It's what is in your heart.

im struggling to find the question here, or at least what im meant to say. i think its one of them days, im seeing but not reading
When life hands you lemons, make grape juice then sit back and watch as the world wonders how you did it.

I am pretty disgusted by their reasoning for putting her in a psych ward. And the three questions... wow! All were true, but they just could not believe her. What will their excuse be? Some people do not even realize they have racial bias behind their decisions. Bipolar my butt!

Factually speaking, we are imperfect.
We can be intellectual, educated, groomed, and downright lovely.
But at times we can be hissing fanatics, out of control, vengeful, and just generally f**king crazy.
The trick is to recognize your faults and panics; and adjust accordingly.
I can recover from almost anything with a little smoke, and music. But I need that time.
Some things are worse for me.
If I feel deliberately crushed, I almost enter a dangerous catatonic state.
It is f**king awful, just awful.
My personal goal is to better handle these life realities.
So far progress is painfully slow, leading to some social retractions.
Here, I usually feel pretty safe.
But I do tip toe sometimes.

SORRY FOR THE LONG POST JEN
Like i said i have no idea what to post here and i may be off topic, but im going to say my mind, i may be totally of topic, but here is my input on racism;
I believe (and please correct me if you disagree) White people don’t tend to call the racist card as much as black people, Asians etc. There was a guy at school, he was Indian. Once called my friend a white peice of shit, So my friend replied sarcastically. So what colour shit are you? He did mean it as a joke being the class clown, but the Indian guy threw a huff. The teacher over heard and threw him out for racist. They both got a telling off for swearing, but only my friend got a telling off for racism. Apparently calling someone white isn’t racist, but calling someone black or brown is.
I was once asked at work not to refer to someone as ‘black’ My boss asked what nationality they were, the country they are from. I said i have no idea, but they were black. I was asked not to say that again (by a random person in the office) as its racist. So why can we be called white, because we are, but we cant call a black person Black. Now i don’t use the word, but if i was to refer to a black person as a *INSTER THE N WORD* i would be killed or something, yet thats what they call each other??
I live in a very multi cultural area. Infact it is very cultural, there are more mosques that Church Of England, More foreign shops and take aways than there is British shops, Most of our fast food places are halal now (including sub way where your bacon is now turkey rashers) On St Georges day we cant fly our union jack flag At world cup time we cant fly our England flags At Christmas most of our light displays now say happy holidays, And in schools they don’t say happy Christmas, Ba ba black sheep is racist so therefore removed from most schools. Its offensive to show/wear our poppy’s. Schools now even serve halal bcos non halal is offensive, but halal offends some British people, i have read about people who have complained that they dont agree with halal and the way they kill their animals, but that’s okay, we just have to deal with it. I read about a Muslim family that protested to have a Irish travellers grave removed from the side of their family member, because having a god worshipper next to them is offensive! YET; I saw a Asian guy wearing a outfit which was covered in the union jack flag, a Indian woman driving a Mini cooper with the union jack flag on her car. They build their mosques 20 foot tall right next to our COE, They fly their EID flags and posters in celebration of EID they wish each other ‘Eid Mubrack’ and expect it to not offend us. They don’t celebrate, infact find offense in Christmas, yet taxi drivers (most of which are Asians) charge double, if not fare and half, on Christmas day although they don’t celebrate it.
Look at all the rapes that were going on, kept secret etc. And why? Because we would have been branded racist for accusing Asians of rape when they obviously don’t have sex before marriage. being the majorly religious people they are.
So why are we not allowed to do the things we have done, that we should do , like to do etc. Bcos it causes offence, yet they can do anything they want because they are different? Why are we always told not to treat people differently yet theres an exeption for people of different religion.
I for one wouldn’t be happy if M went to school and they served only halal food, i don’t mind it, it doesn’t offend me, ill confess i really don’t care how the animal is killed, its always killed so how they do it doesn’t bother me, id just rather not know and think about it, i eat from Indian take aways which serve halal, but i expect to be served halal meat from a Indian take away, but i do not expect to go to an American food chain like subway, and be told ‘we don’t have bacon as such, we have turkey rashers instead, but they are the same’ the last time i checked turkey and bacon were not the same!! (i asked them to start my sandwich again, i wanted bacon not turkey so now ill have something different)
As we have more foreign shops in my area, its harder for a white British person to get a job, it has been admitted to myself that Asian people prefer to employ other Asian people, black people prefer to employ other black people, there is 2 polish shops either side of my work, they wont employ a white British person!
Now the one thing that really does get my back up, and i apologise for any offence i could cause, i can not stand people from other countries speaking their own language, i mean in your home fire away, but i don’t think its right them talking in a different language to us in a work place, walking the street, in a que at the shop etc. It really annoys me. At work we have alot of foreign tenants, alot Romanian or Spanish atm. All of them come in the office, speak to me in really good English yet carry on a convo in their language, now i don’t know what they are saying, what they could be planning, how do i know they aren’t planning on attacking me, stealing money, or anything? How do i know the Romanian person walking towards me looking at me but speaking to his friend in Romanian, isn’t planning on snatching the pram out of my hands? Stealing my bag or even kidnapping me? I don’t because i cant understand what they are saying.
When life hands you lemons, make grape juice then sit back and watch as the world wonders how you did it.

That is disgraceful. The car was 11 years old too. Surely not particularly valuable.

i think i my area, the points ive discussed are a reason why people dislike other races, i dont hate any race, but it does get my back up how differently they are treated, people walk on egg shells because they dont know what they will say that will cause a big racial outburst, then they say 'its because im Asian isn't it' there's one thing, i mentioned in the News page not long about about a woman who was abused and raped right near my house, everyone assumed he was Asian, even the media, the police. turns out he wasnt, he was Romanian of some kind, because they assumed he was Asian it took that little bit longer to find him.
no Jen i know some people don't mind it, i had a friend who would call himself a 'paki' so i once asked him, so if i called you it would you mind, he said no, because that's what i am, i am from pakistan therefore im a paki, as much as your a Brit because your from Britain, do you find that offensive'..
When life hands you lemons, make grape juice then sit back and watch as the world wonders how you did it.
