Some one here got me thinking again. Gay marriage.
I don't want to argue it. But if we have redefined marriage haven't we also redefined divorce?
Can a man now sue his partner for maintenance living costs? I think women can sue if their relationships are long standing, common law.
Will a man be eligible for abused spousal benefits, many such benefits payed for by the tax payer? I'd say yes, I mean one man may be part of the women's "weaker" classification.
If there is adopted children, does the "weaker" (perhaps less wealthy) man get the house and custody of the children as we women often do? And dead-beat dads laws?
I assume family wealth will now go to the divorced partner after a death.
I don't think men should be treated any differently when it comes to divorce. If the man has a role that is typical of a woman (stay at home dad?!), then why shouldn't he be rewarded with similar things upon divorce?
If the dad is a better caretaker, then he should have the main custody of the children. It should never just automatically go to the mother. Some mothers are unfit as parents!

Divorce gets ugly.
Laws on marriage bonds vary distinctly from state to state from what I can tell.
Federal legal stance is virtually absent.
Marriage itself has been under legal attack for years.
It certainly does not offer the protections it once did.
Interestingly some states divorce laws are draconian.
In Florida divorce compensables include an "alimony for life" statute allowing a party, usually the wife, to obtain all future incomes from the husband, including private, and military retirement funds, even social security.
So a person faces a sentence of working until destitute death.

How do you work that out?
You can't get blood out of a stone is a popular legal line over here.
It is incomprehensible they did no engineering testing before and after proceeding.
This contamination really exceeded 18 months bc homes were brought online over a period of time.
It could have easily been tested
15 PPB is the EPA threshold. (I looked it up in my Merc Manual)
Home test kits can be had for $15 but if this was me I would do a whole house assessment, including swabs and air quality samples. (about $1,500 from A&L Labs)
