My favourite bug are spiders. I think they are such beautiful animals. And there are a wide variety of species. Their colours and design are vast. Because not all spiders are black. There are even sky blue and white spiders!
You'd have to look on Google images to see what I mean:
Spiders can be scary but sometimes they will surprise you with their kind nature.
This makes me think about Charlotte in Charlotte's Web. I'm surprised that I was scared of spiders for a while, seeing as how I read that book a lot as a kid. It may have been watching the 2006 movie and reading the book with my kids that finally helped me see spiders in a good light. I still don't want to get super close to them, but I respect that they have their own purpose on the earth!
We pulled in to a small Lane yesterday where we walk the dogs. It was a van part and a man with his two small children were there children were playing in the man was busy cleaning out his van including emptying CO2 fire extinguishers into the air.
What is the point of me turning down my heating, using less water, saving that plastic bag etc when people like him are busy discharging CO2 into the atmosphere for of the hell of it or to avoid a recycling charge?

I agree with you.
It does remind me of an old small freezer we use as a storage cupboard though. We ceased to use it when it failed to freeze, probably due to the coolant leaking. Rather than special recycling, which it would still need even though it technically may not, we ended up using it as a cupboard.

When it became time to replace my refrigerator because of a faulty ice-maker that was forever breaking down, we moved it to the garage and that is where we keep all our beverages and extra veggies.
Here in NL when you buy a new appliance you pay a recycling tax, about €2,50 on a tv€ 5 on a fridge then your old one is always taken away free of extra charge.
Here, we are roaring in clean air act, changing petrol car to EV. It came to me this morning that the government and the Green party should improve the rubbish collection instead of focusing on getting the people shift to EV, which is not affordable for most people currently. There are only two available collection stations for hazardous wastes in the city with 1.7M population. Guess what? The locations aren't even accessible enough. Who would drive a 30km to throw their empty weedkiller containers along with their varnish tins, aerosol spray, etc? As a result, they end up in the regular rubbish bins. I don't get it. Why not improve the household hazardous waste management? I'm thinking of writing this to our MP.

Good idea. We have a big red van that comes round once a month honking its horn stopping at various places and they take any aerosol cans , medication, paint, oil etc...
This stupid rush to EV's is sending a lot of perfectly good used cars to the crusher. That is a bigger environmental disaster than keeping them on the road.

My kids loved this spider cartoon. I still smile when I see it, and sometimes I find myself singing it.

I like this. Is this in Netherland? Will do more read about this if there is any article or news available to include the source on my letter.

Our local dump is well organised with different areas for different rubbish, but the guys that run it seem to resent us going there.... So rude and unhelpful.

They were better at our local dump, and were really helpful but they closed it down. I don't like going to the city dump so seldom do.

Its getting a bit chilly outside and the heating is costing a bit more than we expected so what can we do.??
I know lets all naff off to Eygypt in our private jets for a couple of weeks at taxpayers expense and call it a climate conference.. Then we can tell all the little people they need to cut back and pad our own expense account while getting a tan..
Now it looks like Putin is destroying pipelines. I can imagine what the cost to the environment is going to be.
That's the worst bit.
I have wondered as it does sound a bit silly though. 'Cutting off his nose to spite his face?'. It is essentially a Russian pipeline which supplies Russian gas elsewhere. He only needed to say no, citing sanctions, and turn the supply off. No-one could stop this. There was no need to destroy the pipeline and essentially cutoff his ability to flood the market with cheap gas after this is all over, hence rebuilding the Russian economy.
Am I missing something or does this look very suspicious? The destruction and blaming of Russia actually aids the Ukraine, not Russia as it will prompt Europe to further support for them.
Now it looks like Putin is destroying pipelines. I can imagine what the cost to the environment is going to be.
Who sabotaged the pipelines remains a mystery until it is proven by the West that Russians did it or the other way around. As for the environment, it will take years, decades for the sea to recover.
The trouble with natural disasters is that they can be a little unpredictable in the magnitude of their effects. Looking on the (debatable ) good side I may be soon taking my morning walk on the beach, as the fens here will be flooded.
