it's difficult though, I think because I'm such a picky eater and when I say picky eater, I'm the type of person to order off a children's menu at a cafe
it's really bad!
That's true. Sometimes I don't eat vegetables.. I'm trying to be better about that lol
i bought a nice barber clipper set online and got ahold of a 2 inch comb guide. i've been cutting my own hair short for the past year now.
a couple things i tried i didn't like or they didn't work cuz i did it wrong. but for the most part it's been a success. when i go out with my hair styled people tell me my hair looks cute and ask who cuts it. lol! they are super surprised when they find out i'm my own hairdresser.
plus there's no way in hell i'm gonna pay $15 for the haircut with no wash and dry usually and another $15 just to plug the curling iron is BS. if i ever NEED a cut like now with my broken rib...then i will go but for right now i'm just lettin it shag.

I have only ever read the "8 glasses" rule to not really be true or that it is a myth, and I agree with that because it depends on where you live, your weight and the amount of exercise you do. But it's still important to drink enough water, better too much than too little. I always went by how I felt when I was a kid, I drank if I was thirsty and not if I wasn't. And then I got dehydrated, but thankfully it wasn't so bad, I could treat it with some powder that was mixed with water and I drank a spoonful of that every 15 minutes or so. And it was horrible, it looked like lemonade but it was salty. Anyways, now I make two batches of tea per day (800 ml each) and get 1,6 liters of pure fluids into my body each day and I just feel better this way. It was very difficult to get used to it in the beginning but it's easy now. Can't help but think that these articles are written by people that hate the taste of water and need an excuse to not drink it.
Ive been screaming this for years.. There was a report in 1945 that said 'most adults need on average 2.5 litres of water per day.. '
The next line that no one ever reads or quotes says...'most of this is found in our normal daily food and drink intake'
its not a 'normal intake' plus 2,5 litres....its supposed to be a daily total goal..
Its the same as the bloody BMI myth that drives me mad. It was never designed to measure individuals, it was never tested on women, its nearly 200yrs old, it doesnt account for lean muscle in athletes for instance and it is in no way a guide to health. Plus way back insurence comapies decided to change what was classed as fat so they could charge more.
My BMI is now about 30, however the heroine junkie down the road has a BMI of 22 that doesnt make her healthy..
My BP blood sugar and cholesterol are all lower than expected for someone my age and more for someone half my age.
I wouldnt say Im super healthy ( graves fibro and artrose) but my BMI doesnt define me.

The BMI is useful as a rough guide. But, as Cassie points out, it does come with severe limitations. For instance, I am happy with my size, though some call me slim, and others skinny. For myself, I like to see a hint of rib. That's my definition of 'right', for myself.
So I do have to agree that all things considered I am not over weight, as my bmi confirms. I come in at the top half of 'healthy' on the scale.
However, looking at the weight spread of 'healthy', I could lose almost 2 stone, and still appear 'healthy' on the BMI.

When I was sick I went down to a size 10 .. People thought I had cancer and was dying. I lost the weight quickly 15 kilos in 6 weeks..
Quite often now when hearing my weight people look at me and say ...where? But I was lucky , after my thyriod died in the radioactive treatment for graves I put on a huge amount (about 40 kilos in 3 months) and Ive lost some but Ive been left with 'all over' weight from fingers to toes so I dont have any huge gains in one place..
Hey now, I never said to drink a set amount of water, so what I said is not a myth ;p I will reword it for you: Just drink enough... (for you). I had listened to a broadcast a couple years ago about how most Americans are borderline dehydrated.. likely in part because of our poor diets. I'm probably an example of one of those Americans.
I notice I get extra tired from not drinking enough water, but yet I never learn my lesson lol I feel much better on the days I sip water a little more regularly. I don't think I need 8 cups, but I do think I need more than what I'm providing myself most days. It's more apparent when I give urine for urinalysis that my pee is on the darker side almost every time, and I intentionally drink extra water beforehand.
I personally forget to drink water all the time because I don't actually ever feel thirsty until I start drinking something and notice myself wanting to guzzle it down. That's the only time the thirst urge hits me. I think I made myself used to getting by with barely any water, but I might pay for it eventually because it's not healthy to regularly drink barely any water. I will go all day without drinking anything because I'm too focused on tasks or I get distracted. I admittedly don't eat many fruit or vegetables throughout the day either, so I am lacking some of the good sources of water from food. I also get full so easily from drinking water, so sometimes I can't drink much by the end of the day either to catch up if I start to feel like I really need it lol it's terrible.
So, for me, this is self-care I do need, and maybe others do as well if they are like me! But if you are getting enough, then don't drink more just because I said drink plenty of water ;p
Just do the best you can. If soda is all you can muster.. then it's better than nothing.
What's the problem with soda?
Just tooth decay?
Tooth decay is the least problematic thing about soda in my opinion. There's loads of sugar in it, that causes insulin spikes, insulin resistance, diabetes, weight gain,...
Soda is a treat for me, I buy/drink it for special occasions only like Easter, Christmas and birthdays, though I often just drink peach juice when I'm eating out or even at birthday parties.
Can't edit the previous post, but I do just want to add I hope I'm not coming off as stuck-up and a know-it-all. I just wanted to contribute to the conversation, but sometimes it's difficult for me to word things properly.

Sounds ok to me. We have a soda stream thing but like you soda is special. For those of us over 40 soda always was a special thing and not an every day beverage.. But we often use the soda stream to add fizz to ordinary water and add a slice of lemon.
If I drink soda its hot to be the one with sugar Im not supposed to drink/ eat things with sweetners.. But it makes me feel bloated so I tend to avoid it anyway.
