Point 1, just yesterday, over 60 members of Cuba's Ladies in White and other democracy activists were arrested in Havana. They were carrying images of current Cuban political prisoners. Castro regime officials confronted and arrested them with great violence.
Point 2, the regime does not allow foreign companies to hire their workers; instead, they’re provided by the government. Investors pay thousands of dollars per worker to the government, which then pays the workers $30 or $40 a month, in violation of international labor agreements.
President Obama told us in December that we had to change our policy because the past one was not working. Unfortunately, the new Obama approach has not required the Cuban government to treat its citizens any differently.
The reason I am pushing that is because you have to remember that the poor cannot afford to be the pawns of us middle wealth types showing off our political doctrines.
Middle wealth is having enough food to eat, warmth, and a roof on a daily basis,

The wealthy always benefit more, no matter the country. I don't begrudge them their riches as long as the lives of the common people improve. I truly believe that this will be the case in Cuba.

I watched a rebroadcast of Thursday's Senate hearing regarding agricultural trade with Cuba. Among those testifying were farmers and agriculture co-op leaders. All of them wanted the sanctions removed so that Cuba could begin purchasing their crops again. The head of a co-op rice organization said that before the sanctions, Cuba bought 75% of its rice from the U.S. That percentage is 0 now and the Cubans are getting most of their rice from Viet Nam. Corn, wheat, and even beef were exported to the island as well, but not at the present time. Well, the present time will soon be in the past.
