I started this thread in January. Barack and Raul meet today, marking the first time in over 50 years that the leaders of the 2 countries have met face to face. BWI airport in Baltimore is one of 2 airports in the US to be granted non-stop flights to Havana once relations are normalized. I'm excited!

Business leaders here are all for it. The US will finally be able to sell new cars there, help repair Cuba's infrastructure, build new businesses, provide a great tourist location for Americans, just to name a few things. Of course the guys are looking forward to legally purchasing those Cuban cigars.

Like Molly said earlier - it's well overdue!

To be fair Jen, Cuba has to answer some tough questions.
Basic individual rights disappeared under the Castro regime.
They nationalized most properties, and forced people to accept communism
They jailed dissidents if they were lucky.
Because many others, simply disappeared.
The Castros oppose democratic elections.
They have a one party system.
They in fact brutalized any opposition.

The US made mistake after mistake.
They foolishly made communism stronger.

The common Cuban suffered immeasurably.

Hopefully, they will be given a voice in their future.
