It's not always the woman's fault. Not when she has to deal with a narcisstic boyfriend/husband.
Some women spend their entire lives trying to please - and make happy - their narcissist partner. But it is all in vain. They simply do not realize that their partner is narcissistic and will never change.
I think anyone in a violent relationship should watch the above YouTube videos and see if any of it rings true.

Also important is the difference betwen introversion, social anxiety and depression.
They should never be lumped in the same category. It is possible to be an introvert without having social anxiety or depression. It is not always a bad thing to be introverted: many introverts live normal lives and just enjoy their own company more than a large crowd. That doesn't make them unlucky or a fool.
Basically, the most confident woman in the room is not always the one that shouts the loudest.
Different subject , as you know one that is close to me. This lady, Teepa Snow has a great way of talking about and giving information on how to deal with dementia.

A close friend I will never forget - Michael - has dementia.
It truly broke my heart: and I miss him terribly. We had a bond that couldn't be broken. Even now I still get very upset over it: the Michael I knew is gone. Losing a friend is hard to get over: I don't think I'll ever be truly OK with it. It has been a few years now, but the memories never fade.

I have two of those things, and depression is not one of them. It's like I never got over the teenager phase. I am soooo socially anxious yet everyone would probably describe me as life and soul of the party. I was, and probably for the wrong reasons. I need to be liked. I am very much introverted and love my own company, however I do love company of others, i.e. friends and family but just in small doses!
I also worked for a narcissist who was my friend for 16 yrs. It was a horrifying experience. We no longer speak or see each other.
Narcissists are nasty people. They are very manipulative and domineering. The fact you maintained a friendship with someone who was a narcissist must not have been easy. I bet you're glad to have the person gone.
I do think that people in abusive relationships blame themselves without realizing it isn't actually their fault: their "partner" is a narcissist or even a psychopath. And you can't always spot a psychopath by a bloody knife: psychopaths are highly manipulative and secretive. They tend to hide their crimes.
Anyhow, the above MedCircle YouTube videos say so much about such people. Basically, never blame yourself for someone else's abusive behaviour: it could be because they're a narcissist or a psychopath.
