I'm a guy who is involved in a sex addicts recovery for guys and it's difficult for us to open us about our past and current relapses. My question is ..why do you think this is for women?
For guys? I think we are afraid of others judging us (even we are all in the same group for about the same thing). I think we guys are not serious to get help from our problem. I don't know which is why I'm asking why do you think (if there are....I don't know) that women do not walk to talk to other women about their issue.
I mean for a man who is recovering. I already feel like a dog, so telling others about my past, it's not gonna bother me so much. I tried to get a guys email group once setup and one guy was like "I don't want a accountability group because I'll just get beat up and besides I already lusted" and I was trying to think deeply about this.
I can go on and one about this one.
Any bold lady want to share their opinions on this? If it's too much, please ignore me, it will not hurt my feelings. If you feel like sharing or tell me your story of how you were able to open up with one other lady about the issue ...I would like to know how you did it. Well, that's all. Thank you for listening.
Take care dear women of the world. May men not give you a hard time today, and tomorrow and forever... including me
I think a lot of people don't want to feel vulnerable around others, especially strangers. Sometimes you have to get to know the people better before there is more comfort to share. In a group setting, then someone always has to be the 'brave' one and go first.... and eventually others may follow suit. Some take longer than others.
I remember when I first joined this forum (the original version), I was a lurker for a while before I started posting... then I mostly gave advice without saying much about myself, but I did eventually start to share more as I became friends with others.

That is pretty cool and I'm glad you did open up. It's hard. See, I even tried and put my real face on my profile picture. I know it's difficult. I feel like with other guys, I am not trusted so I get it.

I have tried lurking.
I am useless.
I cannot say that I have ever really lurked anywhere to any extent. I'm usally so busy so just get into things. Some forums, I am a member of but don't post often. I don't lurk either as I haven't the time. If things are interesting I join in.
