Yeah, they're boytoyz. Don't get me started on all the idiots who have big-@$$ pickups and SUVs here. They're the redneck equivalent of mid-life crises Corvettes and other expensive sports cars, only worse. They throw their considerable weight around by speeding and driving aggressively. They think they're invincible because of their size (and 4WD), but they're the ones most often rolled over in a ditch by an icy road. They're also the first to complain about rising gas prices.
It must be quite scary when they appear in your rear view mirror. There is nothing more unpleasant on the roads than unpredictable circumstances, and that is how these come across.

It made me think a little years ago when I was riding out of town on my little motorbike and there was someone on a much more powerful one waiting to turn out onto the road. Just after I rid past I heard an almighty scream of an engine and looked in my mirror to see the motorbike on it's back wheel vertically in the air (wheelie) in the lane beside mine and approaching rapidly. A few moments later it came past well above the speed limit. It seemed to have gone from zero to well above the 30mph speed limit (maybe up to sixty?), and then back down to zero in the space of a couple of hundred yards. I think it was the noise of the engine which made me jump more than anything though.
We are now down to two cars at home, his Tesla and my little BMW but I would like to sell the BMW and get a Honda Integra. Now that I don't have much to do, I can go to the dealership to look at cars.

We have three. Hubby has a Mazda 3 and I have the two Avalons. One of my three work locations is in its own micro-climate, where the winds, rain and hail are much worse that what is experienced in town. I never take Ruby there. The road there is a country highway, where there are hardly any trees, so the winds stir up a lot of debris. There are a lot of trucks that travel that road as well. Goldie's windshield is pretty well pitted and has had a small rock chip for a while. I recently got another larger rock chip on the bottom. I'm waiting as long as possible to replace the windshield. My experience is that, once the OEM windshield is replaced, I will have to start replacing it more often.

Should I be a offended if a man (specifically a guy of the same age) tells me that I'm smarter than "what I give off?"
No, you should not. Because that means you are not trying to act, talk or look smart. People get to know you when they know you. That's a good thing.
Oh, thank you for explaining this! I never thought about it this way!!! At first, I felt bad that I don't appear smart, but this message reminded me about the importance of authenticity!

It depends on the tone of how it is delivered.
It was more like a "Hey [NAME], I know this is weird to say, but now that I've talked to you more, you're a lot more smarter than you appear." Something along those lines. I know the person is very kind and seems to have good intent with most things, but I thought it was a dig at my intelligence. I didn't know how to react because I was unsure (and I just met the person), so I just said thank you!

Hi! I'm a little bit confused. How do you post in the members chat? Do I still have to post more to post in there? I'm not sure how the ranking system works!

Just think about it this way, those who know you, they know you. Those who don't know you, who care? If we are worried about how others think about us, that will be an endless burden.

Here is a not so nice random thought that I had yesterday. I looked up someone I used to know well on Facebook and found that they had died around the middle of last year. These things happen but I realised that when people die their Facebook account still goes on. Taking that forward for quite a few years, I realised that people will eventually spend their days browsing through a graveyard as there will be more dead people's accounts than live ones

There are ways to prevent that happening. In the FB set up you can arrange for someone to close or set your account to memorial.

The old line springs to mind: "You know when you are getting old as you attend more funerals than weddings."

hahahah you can, and i recommend, have someone take over your account if you were to pass away.
You just have to name them in settings. "Legacy Contact" is the setting.

Sorry to resurrect an older topic, but earlier today I was just thinking about my next vehicle. I still have a few years left before I'm financially ready, but I love the idea of driving a PHEV sedan. I'm really interested in the Toyota Prius Prime. I completed the "build and price" your Toyota on their website, but I don't know anyone to ask if they are as good as they seem. I rarely drive more than 100 or so mile a week, so I would almost never spend money on gas if I got one, but I sometimes have to drive long distances and if I'm being honest, I'm a little scared to go full EV until I try a PHEV.

I have a straight hybrid Toyota Rav 4 an absolutely love it. I average over 45 mpg on the flat Florida roads and am very happy with that. When I get off of the main road and am coming into my house that last few miles are done on the electric motor which helps.

How long have you had it? Is it reliable for a long time?

I've had it for over two and a half years now with not one issue. I have a friend that has had hers for four years now without any issues.

We travel long distances at times, and that's why I haven't gone full electric. Like kjay, I have a couple of straight hybrid Toyotas (not plug-ins). I absolutely love them! One averages 34-36 mpg over the years, and the other (newer) one averages 39.9-42. I drive mostly highways and city streets, but I also take them up into the mountains. Sure, I still have to buy gas, but not that often.
