We are now down to two cars at home, his Tesla and my little BMW but I would like to sell the BMW and get a Honda Integra. Now that I don't have much to do, I can go to the dealership to look at cars.
Sorry to resurrect an older topic, but earlier today I was just thinking about my next vehicle. I still have a few years left before I'm financially ready, but I love the idea of driving a PHEV sedan. I'm really interested in the Toyota Prius Prime. I completed the "build and price" your Toyota on their website, but I don't know anyone to ask if they are as good as they seem. I rarely drive more than 100 or so mile a week, so I would almost never spend money on gas if I got one, but I sometimes have to drive long distances and if I'm being honest, I'm a little scared to go full EV until I try a PHEV.
I used to drive a Toyota Prius, although it was obviously an older model than you are contemplating. I have to say that I travelled nearly 200,000 miles in it over the time I had it and the hybrid battery was still Ok (although it did need a couple of ordinary batteries over that time). Fuel consumption was excellent although I did use it for work, often travelling over a hundred miles a day. I found it very reliable.
If I could make a suggestion is it possible that you hire such a car for a week to see if you really like it. I've driven quite a few hire cars and based on just a few miles driving I know whether I would be happy actually owning one, it saves making costly mistakes.

We travel long distances at times, and that's why I haven't gone full electric. Like kjay, I have a couple of straight hybrid Toyotas (not plug-ins). I absolutely love them! One averages 34-36 mpg over the years, and the other (newer) one averages 39.9-42. I drive mostly highways and city streets, but I also take them up into the mountains. Sure, I still have to buy gas, but not that often.
I have an Audi A3 petrol, not an EV. I get 50+mpg on average, and about 70mpg on a long run.
Why would I want an EV if that's what you guys are getting?

Wow! I checked what is listed here in the states and it is listed much lower than that. You definitely have a good one.
It's a really nice little car. I have discovered I like all the electronic gadgetry. Particularly the overtaking mirrors, the parking sensors and especially the Adaptive Cruise Control.

I don't know about anyone else, but with the short distances I drive, I might only end up using the gasoline portion of the engine 1-2 times a month. If that's the case, I might only be filling up a handful of times a year. I'm also pricing (though it might also take some time) solar panels for my garage. If I go with that, it would likely pay for and go beyond my needs for vehicle use. So aside from up front costs, I could have a very very small gas bill. That's my hope anyway.

This is VERY helpful. Thank you! I know that cars vary in reliability, but I would really like to keep my next vehicle for the long haul, if possible.

The threat to democracy is one of the top problems if not the top one because it will create so many other problems to everyone even to the idiots who wordship him. There will always be millions of people who want him to be in charge, but if he will not be, they will learn to live with it.
