...and I got no online cards this year either. I am not sure if I am disappointed at that or not. I have been rather lax socially on my other sites, mostly just modding, or doing my job, rather than joining in.
How about you? Do you believe in it? Or just stopped as you are past that stage?
I was 17, and my best friend and I first double dated two guys who were friends the weekend before Valentines day. She was really struck on her guy. A few days later, a valentine dropped through my door from her guy. Boy was he keen.
I called my friend and pulled a sickie from the youth club that night. I hoped it would all go away.
No chance. At 10:00, there she was at my door "Did you get any valentines today?"
I am ever the optimist, besides I am guaranteed a valentine, today is our 43rd wedding aniversary.
No flash party or big celebration in fact we sloshed around some woods this morning and had a packed breakfast of cheese rolls and blueberry muffins.. This evening I will cook and we might watch a film if OH doesnt fall asleep.
Most places here are starting to get into the valentine rip off so there are a lot of set menus which include things like tomato soup and strawberry mousse etc just to stick with the red theme but I hate that so we dont bother.
On the plus side dd helped OH shop this year so my gift was spot on.
Well I did get one from my hubby. When I got up this morning there was the envelope on the table where I sit every morning along with a little teddy bear and a rose. It is such a nice start to my day.

How did your friend react to finding out her boyfriend wanted to cheat on her: with her best friend? She must've been furious with him. I hope you dropped him in it and she ditched him straight away. Because she should've realized the feeling he had wasn't reciprocated by you.

What an arse.
I just didn't respond to him at all, and he took that hint. She wasn't mad at me, we had only dated once, so were still waiting to be asked out again. So she never really had ownership.
Neither of us were asked out again. She thought she would. I thought I wouldn't. We obviously fluffed our one chance.
Mine dated one of my friends for a while. She was obviously prettier than me. I have never been much of a looker.

I'm glad your friend wasn't mad with you, a_muppet. Because it definitely wasn't your fault. Still, what he tried to do must've stung your best friend at the time. But he was a player: there was no point dating him. At least in my worldview. He was a liar, a cheater and an opportunist.

Good riddance, I say.
All's fair in love and war.
Besides we can't control who we fancy. If I don't fancy a chinese man, it doesn't make me a racist.
On reflection, had he asked me out a month or so later, I would maybe have said yes. Time passes much slower when you are a teenager.

My SO and I got a card and candy from his mom in the mail.... and then mostly texts from my mom and his dad lol we didn't do anything different or special really, but sometimes we might get some food or something. I forgot this year, though lol not that my SO cares.
