Duvet, comforters made a little easier.

I thought that I was the only one, Heather! Maybe it would make more sense to me if I watched it after a bit of weed.

I am very gullible, but, no-one is THAT gullible! 

I think you are both sooooooo mean to me. After I saw that vid, it was all I could do not to rush upstairs to my bedroom and try it out.

Still too complicated for me so I have a bedspread.

We don't have a duvet or duvet cover lol so I really don't know what is going on in that video, or what the purpose of it is. I have no experience with them.

On the bright side, you're not the only that knows of duvets. The girl on the video likes them too.

Basically duvets are full of fillers, to keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. If they were washed, they may be ruined, but at the very least they would take up your entire washing machine and take days to dry. So we put them inside bags [duvet covers]. Thus they never need cleaning as we just wash the cover and air the duvet.

According to wiki, a duvet is called a comforter in the usa.

So a duvet cover is like a pillow case?

We don't have covers for our comforters, that I know of. We just wash them.. how often really depends on what it's made of, some of ours are like thick blankets so they wash/dry easily (some have stuffing like a cheap pillow).

But they do not keep me cool.... duvets sound better lol what's in the duvet that can make you cool in summer?

What do they use in hotels?

Surely the comforters are not washed after every visit?

The selling of duvet covers over here is big business. Seems to me there is a very large niche in the market over there just waiting to be filled.

We don't have a top sheet. We sleep straight under the duvet cover.

It also gives us a change of colour, as all the duvet covers we have are different colours.

AND, you can't help touching your comforter every time you pull it up or down, or if you put an arm down or even sit on the bed.

Well, duvet covers aren't necessary here because our comforters are decorative usually. We'd have to buy plain comforters and then put them in a duvet cover! lol I don't ever really see plain comforters.

Interesting difference, though.. I never thought of this kind of thing when I am making my own bed.. I assumed it's all the same everywhere lol
