My mom bought me a BodyGym recently. I used it twice this week, and I like it. It's resistance training.
It's perfect for exercising at home with no heavy or large equipment, and it takes up barely any space when storing it. Really liking it for apartment life, but I'd use it regardless of where I live, I guess. I am surprised with how well it works.. I am feeling the "burn" lol I used it yesterday, and I did all the exercises, and today I am sore in a bunch of muscles.
Any of you heard of it or tried it? I would recommend it!
You can check it out to see what exactly it is; you don't have to listen to her talk, or even watch the whole thing:

Will do, I'll let you know if I notice toning over the next few months. I will only be using this as a form of exercise.... and walking (when taking the dogs out).
It definitely is doing SOMETHING. I noticed my shoulders were sore when I was putting on deodorant a little earlier lol I am so weak in my shoulders... I'd like to see more strength in there! :-)

So, mini update. I don't use it as much as I'm probably supposed to for best results =p However, my arms are slightly more toned, and maybe a tiny bit "tighter" (I am skinny, so I don't have very much jiggle naturally). However, I also do wall push-ups every now and then, which probably also helps.
I am really just doing body workouts, so I probably only use the BodyGym once a week or every other week to add onto what I am doing... just to add some resistance to make things a bit more intense. I mainly use it for my arms and not so much the rest of my body.
But really my main focus has been my legs. I have been doing squats regularly, and my legs are getting a little bigger, so I am happy about that. I also added in lunges about a month ago.
A few weeks ago my boyfriend and I added jogging to our exercise routine. It really hurt my knees, though, so I have been just walking quickly while he jogs the last few times. I feel my knees are too weak for jogging/running, so I need to probably work up to it.
I didn't do any exercise for about a week, though, because I was on vacation... you know, other than walking around a lot :-)
So that sums up what I've been doing as far as exercise is concerned. I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing to build up my strength and add muscle. BodyGym was what got me started on working out regularly, so I'm glad I got it =p
Oh yeah, I made it up to 110 pounds and kept it on. I remember during one of my doctor visits within the last year or two I was not much over 100 pounds =/ I sure felt terrible.

I jog about 3 miles daily, except on weekends.
I also do a "walking Ten" push ups every other day.
It's mainly for girls to strengthen and tome your pectoral muscles that add lift to your boobs.
In a walking ten you start and do a single pushup. Then you walk back and forth about 50 feet, and do 2 pushups. You repeat this adding one more pushup each time, up to ten.
I mean you will feel the burn in your pecs and triceps, and your upper arms and shoulders look great.

Yeah, I wish I could keep up with jogging, but it really did a number on my knees already. I'm still healing up, and we'll see if I can get back into it. I might have to just stick to walking!
I can barely do a push up lol aside from the wall push ups. I'm still working my way up to that.

Heather you should wear compression bands for jogging.
I really disagree with you persevering with running if it is causing knee problems.
Pain is how the body tells the brain to stop.
Besides, jogging long distances is not natural. If you want natural ambulatory exercise, then spend most of the time walking at a moderate pace, a fair time at a brisk pace, some jogging and a little sprinting, all done intermittently.
That is natural.

I do the wind sprints. I don't think I'll be able to actually sprint/run.. and my jogging is very slow, kind of like a sort of medium paced walk lol I think it's mostly the terrain, lots of hills around here, so it's kind of rough. I will probably just give it another shot after I build up more muscle around my knees, they are very weak.. well, my left one is =/

yeah hills make it far harder on the knees a 3% grade can act like adding 30 pounds of weight
Ok, pushing muscle is a different matter, I assumed you meant joint pain.
Though, I still don't really approve of running as a keep fit sport, the knee joint does not have the shock absorption skills to cope with regular running.
The only way to improve shock absorption in running, is to run barefoot. This changes the whole perspective, and you will stop using heel strike, after a while, this allows the arch to start taking the shock of landing.
From what I remember, landing between running strides sends three times your body weight through your knee joint.

Yeah, I'll be smart and careful about it. I do have running shoes, though, and they help a lot! Sometimes I feel like I'm walking on pillows lol I also don't jog doing the heel strike, so I guess I was on the right track, but the thing is, I have weak knees because I had arthritis as a child.. it made my muscle really weak around my entire knee, and even though I was fairly active I never really did any exercises to target anything around there. Now my focus is strength training and building muscle everywhere, so I mostly just have to take it easy and see what I'll be capable of in the future.
I don't mind just walking briskly. That is enough for me, especially with all the inclines and declines. I'll get as much use out of the trail while I live here =p

Well, I don't do it to lose weight, so it definitely does not matter. Sprinting is supposed to give you a nicer butt than walking, though. That would be the only reason I do it lol but eh, squats are just fine for me.

Arthritis can be very serious in both adults and children.

Yeah, arthritis is no joke. Technically you always have arthritis; it just goes into remission, so I guess I do have it, but for some reason I don't go around saying I have it because I felt like I beat it lol I still think I get arthritic pains, but it's not nearly as serious as it was, and now it's more just mild stiffness if I do activities where joints are bent for too long.
I get paranoid I'm going to do something to bring back the arthritis in my knee, so I take it easier because of that. I still remember how painful it was, and I am a bit traumatized from my experiences back then.
So walking is definitely my friend! =p I like walking, and I don't get aches or pains from it.
