I have finished "The Remorseful Day". I was a bit unsure all the way through but I did remember what happened in the end, which was a bit sad, so maybe it did unsettle me a bit. I do get absorbed in books and their characters at times. I won't give things away though, in case anyone else reads it.
No I am reading "The Saint Plays with Fire". An interesting change from the normal detective story. I got two or three of them a while back and like to read one occasionally for a change in style.

I always get caught up in the characters. They become almost real. I often feel sad when I reach the end of the novel. I have spent hours with the characters and feel I know them. Sometimes I want to know more.
I hit 150 titles read this year with last night's finish of the Blueberry Beach series. I accidentally keep picking shorter reads! The Strawberry Sands series starts with a release tomorrow (Friday).
Still have some Kindle Unlimited graphic novels to read, and print library books. The list of books never ends!

I'm never going to get near that kind of figure. Admittedly though most of my bookwork is with reference and technical books which I don't generally mention.
I was taking the "Inspector Morse" collection to a book exchange on my way to art group on Wednesday. I was visiting mum in her nursing home on the way. I had a sudden thought that the residents might like them to read, so I asked. They were pleased for the offer and took them.
I will try to get through my library book in the next few days. It is just a case of finding the time.
That's one reason I didn't like library books. The time limit on reading them. I like to read when I am in the mood and hate being pushed into it. It destroys the mood.

You've made a good point. The reason, though, that I borrow library books is because I don't have the room to store loads of books: my bookshelf is bursting at the seams enough as it is.
No: I will borrow maybe three to four novels at one time. They do give me three weeks to read them, which isn't too bad.
I have now finished "The Saint Plays with Fire". It was not one of my favourites. It was not helped by the appearance of the text size and font which, although readable, the little letters made the text appear as a maze at first glance (it was a small paperback).
The story itself was much the same as others in the series. They don't quite have the touch or someone like Conan Doyle or Christie. That said, it was interesting but I have noticed the writer, Leslie Charteris, does, to me, have a tendency to build things up and then bring in the cavalry seemingly in a sentence.
I do have one other 'Saint' novel, I think, in my stack of books to read.

I think thats a tendancy echoed in the tv series with Roger Moore although I loved watching it as a child I recently saw an episode and those ' flaws' were glaringly obvious.

And I did. I spent five hours on Monday reading a novel. It was a really good story and captivated me. Its imagery and its dialogue and its subject matter were 100% clever and interesting. I don't know if I'd read it again, but I will give it 10/10.
It was over 600 pages long and in large print, so it was easy to read. It isn't a story I'll easily forget.
I'm more than halfway through the second Dune graphic novel done by Brian Herbert and another writer. I just had to make time to sit down with my reading glasses, since I couldn't get away with my vision as is for that particular size of font (and the contrast at points). I enjoy seeing the artwork and getting extra bits that didn't make it into the movies so far.
I have a couple of others from the library (along with the graphic novel) but I may not get to them before I take them back. I can always borrow them again!

I am now reading "Too Good To Be True" by kristan Higgins. It is good. It isn't my favourite genre but it is fun and easy-to-read. It does have heart and soul at its core.
I shall report on it when I've finished reading it!

I did finish reading this book last week. It was brilliant and fun and I'd read it again!
I have started reading the first novel in my new "to read" pile. It is a really interesting story about a woman that travels from India to America.
A good book so far.
I finished reading this book a few days ago: it was really well written and enjoyable to read! I'd read it again. It scores 10/10 for me.
Today I have finished reading another novel: this one was about spies in the second and first world wars. It was such a well constructed story and easy-to-understand. Now I wouldn't give it 10/10, as I won't be reading it again. BUT if you're into crime genres, you'd love this novel. I'd therefore say it has a score of 9/10.
I am now reading yet another novel: it is general historical fiction. It is a story I prefer to the spy novel. It'll take me a few days to read - but when I do finish reading it - I will give it a score out of ten.

Too many books on the go... "Bad" habit that I'm not that worried about!
Reading to the older boys: Return of the King by JRR Tolkien, about halfway through.
Started but haven't finished in print: Phasers on Stun by Ryan Britt and Jane & Me by Caroline Jane Knight.
Library loans: Sweet Life by Suzanne Woods Fisher and Sea Glass Cottage by Irene Hannon (intended re-read).
Kindle Unlimited: Strawberry Sands #2 by Jessie Gussman (okay so far) and Kayleigh by Kimberly Rae Jordan (good, so I'll read it through before I get back to the Gussman book).
Yet to start but excited for: the last Pumpkin Falls Mystery (middle-grade fiction) by Heather Vogel Frederick and the first Sweet River Ranch ebook by Valerie Comer! (These will likely push out other books on the list that could be finished right away...)
Basically, I read what I'm in the mood for, and I've been scattered lately!

I haven't had the chance to read "A Brighter Dawn" by Rosie Harris: I am just too busy. I can't read in bed because I fall asleep. I can't read in the evening because the telephone always rings. And I can't read in the daytime because I am out. I am lucky to get even one book read in a week.
I have just read a Ruth Rendell. "Some Lie and Some Die" which is an Inspector Wexford mystery. It was a good read. In my mind not quite up to an Agatha Christie but I did enjoy it and will be looking for others.

I read that book fairly recently. It was a clever plot and storyline. I didn't expect the ending it has.

I managed to finish reading this novel this afternoon.
It surprised me that the main character - Sharon - decides to stay with her criminal boyfriend throughout the novel. He ends up the hero at the end of the book, though: which made his character likeable. Sharon is sometimes tempted to go with an infatuated friend of the family instead of her boyfriend. In fact, she puts off the friend of the family. She simply does not love him: and plainly says so to her family and to him. But she does sometimes wonder if she should go home with her tail between her legs, marry the family friend and reject who she really loves. But she thankfully does not do this. She stays with her boyfriend, in spite of his criminal activity.
She is offered various relationships throughout the novel but sticks with the same man and doesn't stray. In the end, Sharon's family forgive her and apologise to her about their behaviour upon discovering that she had been pregnant. All is forgiven on the last page.
This was a very well written book and makes you wonder if she'll stay with the baby's father or go back to the infatuated love interest. It had me guessing. But I was glad her family and everyone forgave one another and there was a happy ending.
