It was even more fun when my daughter and I used to play with it. The best fun was when she got a special kit, like a hospital. We would build it and she would play with it for a while, then we would break it down and put it in with all the other bricks, and then with all those 'different' bits, you could really let your imagination fly.
When she was little, she used to build these really fragile 'works of art' and they barely survived me carrying them through to her room at bedtime. Once she was asleep, I would partially dismantle them, and make them look as similar as I could, but with some structural strength.
How about the rest of you, what was your favourite toy?
My grandpa has a bunch of old electric trains. I used to play with them so much, he built a bunch of tracks in his basement for me. Passenger cars that lit up totally cool, a coal car, mail car, and some more I'm not sure I remember right now. The engines also smoked but you had to squeeze this liquid stuff in the smoke stack. He says they are mine to keep, sometime later, and I want them.
I'm not sure, I feel like I enjoyed everything equally lol I even played with my brother's toys.
Maybe I will say video games (I play with them for fun, so that is a "toy" to me =p)... I still play with those, too, and I have been playing video games since I was really young.. always liked them! I like the variety :-)
i actually never played with Lego as a kid, i never had the imagination, still dont now to be honest, but my OH has boxes and boxes of the stuff, as wel as jigsaws for M when hes older..
i dont really remember my fave toy...
When life hands you lemons, make grape juice then sit back and watch as the world wonders how you did it.
Cleaning and scrubbing can wait ‘til tomorrow For babies grow up we've learnt to our sorrow, So quiet down cobwebs Dust go to sleep I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep
I would play with my bros stuff too. But he was older, didn't care, and actually fixed this remote control Hummer car after I broke it by playing crash with it. I would line up my Barbie dolls in the driveway and run them over with the car.
You know I grew up on a farm and although I had a some really nice toys I was more of an outside playing with my imagination type of kid. I would chase the pixies through the forest and splash around with the water nymphs in the streams. A stick was my magic wand and a hand full of pebbles was my bag full of treasure.
I did have a Wonder Woman doll which I adored tho.

It IS f'ing sad, Val. Reality has been replaced by video games, cell-phones, and other things that these kids are into now, rather than having some real interaction with others their same age. Sometimes progress isn't such a good thing.
No doubt about it, the happiest times involved being outside, with no toys whatsoever. Playing with your friends and using your imagination.
There are some woods not far from us where we take the dog for a walk. They back onto a couple of housing estates. I was just saying to the SO last week, that there is no sign in the entire woods of children's play.
In my day there would have been dens, and little fires, after we had clubbed together to buy beans and sausages.
The odd broken bike or scooter, and a few empty lemonade or milk bottles.

I loved my dolls the best. I love to write and it started when I was a child with my dolls. It was weird playing dolls with the other little girls because they just wanted to dress up their dolls in pretty outfits and parade them around, but that wasn't stimulating enough for me.
I had really elaborate stories with entire plots to them. I was only like 5-8 years old, but my barbies would do things like struggle with bullying in school and learn slowly how to confront their bullies, all while falling in love. They would also do things like become gymnasts. They had to do lots of practice despite the fact that their parents didn't approve of them becoming gymnasts and no one believe in them and then they would win the gold medal with a broken foot. Or they were teenagers secretly eloping with their boyfriends despite the fact that their parents didn't approve and trying to figure out how to put their lives back together afterwards.
I don't know. I had a lot of weird stories. LOL.
But when I tried to act them out with friends, they'd get mad at me because everything was supposed to be "happy" for barbie all the time and they didn't like that I had these plots where barbie had to struggle for whatever it was that she was striving for.

We used to have Barbie parties where everyone would bring their fav dolls and we would trade clothes and stuff. Usually a sleep over but not always.
