Over here we have the Queen's New Years honours list, where a bunch of wealthy people, and a few nominal poor people are given awards, knighthoods, lordships, or medals by the richest woman in the world.

I was wondering what 'similar' systems you have in your countries?

Well... we have "woman of the year" awards; just heard about it this year... but stuff like that is almost similar to movie awards. We mostly give awards for famous people, and I don't follow those things much.

And yeah, awards for military... fighting.. or dying in war, etc.

The US hasn't the history, or pageantry to make such awards.

We rely on Hollywood telling us who were the greatest movie stars
by installing sidewalk plaques so everyone can walk on them.

to give up almost anything for their family, the street cleaners, garbage men,
flower girls, waitresses, medical, janitors, agriculture pickers,
and all the other Hoi Polloi that labor to make our lives easier.
