Does anyone have any can not live without household tips, from getting rid of stains in clothes, dealing with smelly washing machines/drains any good cleaning products etc.
My first tip is; Have you ever washed towels in the washer then forgotten about them and they start to smell? can take 2 washes just to rid the smell? put a little vinegar in the 'pre wash' section of your detergent drawer. i did this once as a one off, as my washer smells i never did it intentionally but when i took my towels out they were soft and smell free
When life hands you lemons, make grape juice then sit back and watch as the world wonders how you did it.

Yes, when your kids discover that one spin of the toiet roll will empty it onto the floor, take it off and stand on it, turning it from round to elliptical. It will still unwind, but needs constant turning.

When anything goes wrong, spills, or smells weird....
VINEGAR!
Vinegar is my go-to solution for everything. Got stains on the couch? Vinegar! Need to clean the baby bottles a little bit more? Give it a light touch of vinegar. Mopping the floors.... ? Vinegar.
I use a lavender all purpose cleaner (Mrs. Meyers) for everything. I buy the one that comes in a large bottle, and I just have to add a bit to a spray bottle, then fill it with warm water, and it will last me a few weeks at a time. It cost me about $9, and I have had it for about two years already. I have used it to clean bathtubs, floors, counters, toilet seats... it works well and the smell isn't strong. I'm pretty sensitive to smells, so it works for me.

Vinegar! I agree with you, Del. I use apple cider vinegar for all sorts of stuff. I cut my hand yesterday and after cleaning it, I swabbed it with my apple cider vinegar. It isn't just good for stains; it's good for the body as well.
really stains in your couch? i didnt think it worked well as a stain remover? i knew it was for smells because i was told when my dogs were puppies if they have an accident vinegar and bicarb is good to eliminate the smells that you cant smell but dogs can.. i also know white vinegar is good for stained toilets. speaking of stained toilets, denture tabs are supposed to be good for that, i dont do it myself as im a bleach addict when it comes to my loo. i wish there was something to stop dog hairs getting EVERYWHERE literally, i had one stuck in my foot the other day, like a splinter -_-

It works as a godsend for stains on couches.
As for your dogs, I have some tips.
Make sure your dog is eating the right food. A dogs coat is the reflection of what they eat. Talk to your vet. Brush the dog daily. My husband only eats egg whites, so I told him to give the dogs egg yolks. Keeps their fur shiny and healthy. Use the right brush, too! Make sure they aren't allergic to anything. They need a high protein food. You can also give them something like Vitacoat, which is just a fatty acid. We only bathe our dogs every two weeks. I use an oatmeal based shampoo which you can get cheaply.
If you feed a good quality food your dogs sHouldnt smell too much anyway..I know this sounds gross but I know if a dog has been fed pedigree by purina because of the smell when it poops ..Its nasty stuff. Be careful of too much protiens and fats some dogs itch from high protien foods and fatty food can lead to pancreas problems.
Bicarb sprinkled on the carpet before you hoover is a good way to make the house smell fresh without the dangers that products like shake and vac bring with them. White vineger is wonderful stuff and non toxic for cleaning of pet habitat and floor areas.

That makes sense about the smell.
I agree with the dog washing, ours is washed when she is mucky, and not before.
My bitch is crossed with a border collie, so she has major fur shedding problems, plus she has doggy eczema so always scratching, that dont help with hairs everywhere, we usually shave her hairs shorter she doesnt seem to shed much but weve lost her cippers when we moved haha. as for the baths, i was once told by a vet only bathe your dog when you will no longer cuddle them, my dogs are actually pretty clean, i mean there are 3 of them so they always lick each other so that probably helps lol, they dont smell and my 2 males fur is always soft and shiny, they eat Wagg dry food, we give them egg and milk rarely, i was told thats good for their fur, and they are brushed when been in the bath as i was also told on a doggy forum that staffies dont need brushing on a daily basis.
my main problem is like putting socks in the washer with say a black hoodie, and the hairs from socks covers the hoodie -_-
