Sooner or later one often comes to that conclusion.....

Oy... The states that made discriminatory laws are getting a lot of flack.. so I'm assuming it will be changed eventually. Very sad, though... I hate it even happened... I live in one of those states, and it has a lot of very forward, progressive people in it who are ashamed and dismayed.

I really could care less about how British visitors to America act or vice versa. Both cultures of each nation are founded upon imperialism and if they want to disrespect one another than it doesn’t bother me in the slightest. Not my problem honestly. Though, Britain 🇬🇧 still seems sour about the loss of territory in North America despite that being territory they never had any legal claim over.

I figured that I misread something. Despite all that my post is still valid in how I view this weird rivalry between the British and Americans. Though visitors should also take precautions if they are any ethnic minority such as, but not limited to, Arabic or Middle Eastern, black descent, or Chinese or any Asian ethnicity.

That was the implication, yes, but the black community should probably be excluded from your list since they essentially earned such a claim with the amount of blood that was spilled on it against their will. They weren’t immigrants. They were essentially no different than Europeans re-introducing horses to the continent.

The US Constitution is one of the miracles of Western civilization. That fact, I think, is worth remembering.

I like history. I started reading an American history book a year ago but did not finish it due to other priorities. I will come back to it (These truths by Jill Lepore) when I'm no longer full of wood dusts or paint on my weekends. jen, I have a question. When you said, "real claim," do you mean land claims or ownership or something else? A bit of explanation can help my dusty brain learn.

Thank you for defining it clearly. What is interesting for me, really, is that there aren't much global news on the native American Indians. With all due respect to members from US, I have noticed that political news stay pretty much about "black or white people" (anyone find this politically incorrect, pls correct me on how to better word it).

There should be more inclusion for Native Americans. My wish. My wish. One day, that America will have a president with direct Native American ancestry. It's about time for Native Americans to rise!

I am so against this? When are we going to stop discussing paying for your ancestors' sin? where will the money come from? people like me. Why am I being punished for what people who have been dead for over a century did?

I just wonder how many of these people who are advocating paying these reparations are actually chipping in themselves?

Yes, and probably most of them could think of more important things to do with the money. Even if only helping the underprivileged in the country, who are often from those backgrounds anyway, rather than most of the reparations probably ending up with the rich.
