Motivation is fleeting, that's why everyone wants to be a motivational speaker; people keep coming back for more because they have no self-discipline -> easy money. I must say what helped me the most was writing "no excuses" on a sticky note and putting it on the edge of my computer screen. The second best thing is admitting I don't feel like or don't want to do something and then saying out loud: "nobody does, but they do it anyway". The third thing that always gets me moving when all else fails is comparing myself to some of the messiest people I know and asking myself if that's how I want to live and how I want to be viewed (yeah I know I shouldn't care about what others think, but I was called out for having a dirty bedroom once when I was a kid and had a friend on a visit and it was not a good feeling).

I usually do find motivation from myself. I have to push myself instead of being pushed.
I often get motivation from my own interpretation of what people expect of me.
Hm... now that I think of it, I don't think about what people expect of me... I live up to my own expectations I suppose. Mine are usually higher than what some would want from me, though, so maybe that's why xD

Looking after oneself and protecting oneself is very important. Self-love sounds cheesy, but it is vital. A person can only ever really know his/her self. Learning to love yourself and to like yourself - again - is vital. No one can be someone else, so you have to "love the one you're with".
I feel much better about myself in later years. But no one should wait until their 40's to feel positive about themselves. Girls and women are especially chanced to struggle with their self esteem. Boys - usually - have less problems in that regard. But there are exceptions to every rule.
Anyhow, the greatest love of all, is learning to love yourself. Whitney Houston had it right.
Okay, I won't talk to myself quite that way... but I get the message ;p
A bit squishy for me but I agree where we would comfort, support or sympathize with a relation, loved one, friend, child or perfect stranger we will beat ourselves up for doing exactly the same thing.

It is something I had to learn over time. I used to be really critical of myself and talk down to myself all the time. I never speak that way to anyone else lol so in a way, I did start being kinder and more patient with myself the way I would with others. I do not say anything cheesy to myself, though ;p
The most I have done is when the bad thoughts would pop in telling me I'm stupid or not worth anything, and then I have to say something to counter it like, "you are not stupid." Simple enough, but it worked for me the more I kept up with it.

I think everyone has an inner demon working against them. But you have to face that demon and knock it down. No one should undervalue themselves. We all have a right to be here. Once your inner demon has his ass kicked, life will become much easier. Besides, who says other people are better? Or more interesting? Or smarter? Comparing oneself to others is normal BUT we still need to look at what WE have: not what others have. Because everyone falls above and below standards and money and all that gubbins. And even people who appear perfect have problems. No: love the one you're with. And when that inner demon comes for you, make him suffer for trying to make you suffer.
