My eldest had a little asthma, that was the only one in my family.
What treatment was provided? How did they diagnose it?
I'd be very interested to know more.
They gave her a ventolin inhaler. It is used when you feel short of breath. It is tested by measuring you lung capacity, and how easily you cope with that test. The test simply involves blowing into a machine. Nothing to worry about.

If I do have asthma I must've gotten it in later life. I didn't have asthma when I was younger. People put it down to being unfit: but I don't think that is the reason at all. I am not obese and it is a lung problem: not a weight problem. It seems very narrow minded to always blame someone's weight.
It's like saying it is OK to smoke if you're skinny but you're badly damaging your health by being overweight. Cigarettes pose a much greater risk to health than excess weight.

Sorry to break the bad news:
Epidemiology – Obesity is a risk factor for the development of asthma, and asthma may increase the risk of developing obesity. Adults and children with obesity have a greater risk of exacerbations than lean adults and children. In adults, but not children, obesity is associated with worse asthma control.15 Nov 2023
To decide on whether that is a weight issue for you personally, you need to check your bmi rating:
If your BMI is less than 18.5, it falls within the underweight range. If your BMI is 18.5 to <25, it falls within the healthy weight range. If your BMI is 25.0 to <30, it falls within the overweight range. If your BMI is 30.0 or higher, it falls within the obesity range.
I was like that when I was obese. It isn't pleasant.
How much weight did you lose a_muppet? And how long did it take for you to lose it?
I lost about 50 pounds, it took about 6 months or so for most of it, and about another year for the rest. I did it on my own so those are only estimates. I used to be a size 18-20 now I am a 10-12, that's 6-8 in usa sizes.
I have been this size now for 20 years, so don't let anyone say "You always put it back on and more."
I didn't like being fat. I didn't like being breathless, I didn't like going OOF every time I bent over, and I didn't like how I looked. My ex fil used to describe fat women as sacks of potatoes tied up in the middle. I didn't like that either as I used to think of that when I looked in the mirror.
Now I can breathe easily, and look okish when dressed nice. I am determined never to be obese again.

Impressive.. well done.
Thanks.
I don't really feel I am missing out, as I do allow myself some greed every time I go under target, or if I am on target, I get to indulge.
I was in pain again today: my breathing was difficult and I couldn't walk fast because of my stiff muscles. I was so out of breath: it was scary.
You recently came back from a trip, no? You were sitting a lot? Did the stiff muscles start in your calf and travel up? Does it hurt to breathe or cough? It just dawned on me that you might be experiencing a pulmonary embolism.
If it's what I think it is, waste no time getting to an emergency room. Do not pass GO, do not collect $200. Get there, STAT!
