Regardless how you feel about HRC (Hillary), what the heck was the State Department’s IT group doing?
Did no one know she had set up her own server in her basement? (If your intent weren’t to hide emails, what other reasons would you not avail yourself of the State Department’s encryption capability?)
If they did know, did they inform anyone? If so, who? How high up? If not, why not? (Jeepers I’m not even a journalist!)
Or were these the same IT folks who set up the Obamacare website? You really want such incompetent government people running the internet?
My bet is that China’s already hacked Hillary’s server and is reading “sensitive” US information. But then with her lack of success as State Secretary, hacking probably doesn't matter much.

So Hillary is forced to give a press conference to lapdog UN reporters. After listening to her boring comments, I think I’d have more respect for her if she had just come out and told the truth.
I mean there is absolutely no defense to what she did. She did it to evade accountability, at great risk to national security, and everyone understands it.
Bill was at least a good liar. My advice Hillary, just tell the truth and say something like….well what you said about Benghazi. “What difference does it make now?”
At least then I’d feel you didn’t think me a half-wit.
Cherry, have you followed the story on the letter sent to Iran by 47 Republicans? That issue is more international... and it involves the UK because we're all working toward an agreement together, after all.

As for the issue with Hilary... Her e-mails were preserved and accessible, which is all that is required by department officials. It's not the best choice, but it's also not as bad as some make it seem; it's definitely not illegal by any means. Not to mention, she isn't the only person to use personal emails; Collin Powell did the same. Perhaps they should be stricter with that, but I suppose they did not have to as long as they are able to keep records regardless. I bet that will change after this, though. I see new rules incoming lol Personally, I think it's best to not use emails as much with that type of profession, but everyone is different. Some people prefer to use the phone or typed letters, and some prefer emails...
One thing I don't get is that she has been using it since, what.. 2009? It's not like people didn't know back then; how could they not when they are corresponding with her? And nobody seemed to care then, but they do now? Is it because it's close to her beginning her campaign for presidency or something? I doubt it will ruin much for her running, but still seems like interesting timing, no?
I'm viewing this objectively, by the way. I am not a Democrat or a Republican ;-)

Apparently there were 7 sane Republicans that didn't sign that letter. Those that did sign are undermining this country's efforts to find a solution to our current problem.

I saw that and felt that there are always going to be some politicians who are out of control.
I give the Iranians enough credit to accept that is how they also viewed it, despite their comments.
Really, as far as ideology goes, it was manna from heaven for them.
People with money & vested interests want to get poorer people (the majority American) killed fighting over assets of one thing or another in far away lands for supposed idealistic causes. Which will in-turn kill tens of thousands of local people (the majority innocent) & which will in-turn, create new generations of people who HATE those who brought this upon them. Which will promote the vested interests of those in power & those who seek to become richer still... shock horror!

This (see below) is cute I thought......and I am gratified to know I'm not talking to myself!
I read that on a US military base in Ohio soldiers are no longer permitted to say, “God bless you” or “have a blessed day”. Apparently an atheist complained.
I have two thoughts. One, would this not also require banning the use of the phrase, “God damn it”?
I mean if you are offended by someone suggesting your day can be affected favorably by a “higher power” then are you not offended a higher power might also cause harm?
I guess I’m more offended by the silliness of “political correct” speech which brings me to my second thought.
I’m not a student of the 1960’s hippie culture, communes and all that anti-establishment stuff. But I thought the point was to be free to express yourself as an individual through speech and action. Well what happened to liberals?
Funny, I’m a conservative and an admirer of the late William F. Buckley. His solution to objectionable speech was more speech, not less!
(Cherry I have no problem with atheists....well maybe the sensitive ones!)
I never care if someone says "God bless you" to me or something, so I don't have a personal opinion on the matter.
But I can see the point behind it because does it really have a place in the work-place? It's not like it's a church where you know everyone practices the same religion.
Same can be said for "God damn it", but I think those who are offended by that are usually the ones who believe in God and are against using "his name in vain" =p

Heather you raise an excellent point regarding Hillary's hidden emails, that is, other people did know!
First, no laws broken?
Hillary Clinton hid these communications from the government itself in order to personally evade and frustrate the Freedom of Information Act, for her own political purposes. The Freedom of Information Act is a law and the basis of the AP’s law suit to get Hillary’s emails.
And it really should go further don’t you think. To Heather's point...
Barack Obama and his White House participated in the fraud no matter how much his team tries to spin it now. I think it should make everyone wonder whether Obama and his team had as much to gain as Hillary in conveniently losing a large part of the historical record on foreign policy and Benghazi.
GM (General Motors) may be “too big to fail”. But I think the US Federal Government is now “too big to be honest”.
As I don't like the words f... or c... or even b....... I rather like that I can swear with some emphasis using phrases beginning with God.
I do believe in political correctness, but I have no issue with people doing things wrong unintentionally.
So, I am quite happy about memos going round telling people not to bless me with and gods, but I would be cross if a well meaning god botherer was told off for it.
It is all about the tone, and the intent. eg being called girl can be insult or compliment, and I will accept that.
I was referring to using the personal email as not being illegal because it's not. There were no actual rules in place for this, but maybe there should be.
"Experts" are the ones saying Clinton didn't violate federal laws, so I will agree with them for now.
All that can be said for certain is that it was poor judgement, but if we want to prevent such things from happening, then we need to create laws about everyone using official emails. Not just saying, "it's recommended" or "we would prefer this..".
AP has the lawsuit against the State Department because they did not respond to their requests; however, we have to keep in mind they do a first-come-first-serve type of deal typically, and there are thousands of requests, so it is not unheard of for requests to be "ignored". Plus, the State Department generally takes about 450 days on average to turn over records. At least, this is based on current practices, and I do believe there was intention to remedy this, but it was put on the back-burner. Maybe it's time to get back to finding a fix for this as well?
The newest lawsuit is mostly to bring attention to the urgency of wanting to review the emails, but they will still need to wait a few months for them to be sorted through. At least now their requests will be moved to the front of the line =p
AP's legal filings:
"State's failure to ensure that Secretary Clinton's governmental emails were retained and preserved by the agency, and its failure timely to seek out and search those emails in response to AP's requests, indicate at the very least that State has not engaged in the diligent, good-faith search that FOIA requires,"
Really, the State Department could have requested an extension to avoid this, but they may not have even viewed AP's requests in the first place; they probably only looked at their requests once the lawsuit came up.
I guess now my point is that this lawsuit does not prove that Hilary Clinton broke any laws under the FOIA; the lawsuit is not directed at her.
Speaking of emails and "losing historical records"... Remember what happened under President Bush? 5 million emails were lost. He used a non-goverment domain on an email server that was not official. The National Security Archive sued the White House over this. Also, I read about an executive order he issued for the FOIA in 2001 that restricted the access of records of former presidents. That is someone trying to hide information and be secretive to me. Luckily that was revoked in 2009, but still; isn't that kind of scary?
Corrupt government.... that is for sure.. and it's definitely not limited to the Obama administration, as you can see.
But I don't know, I have come to expect the government to lie and deceive us about many things, and it has nothing to do with size; it's all about mentality.

Not to mention the ones who are beginning to regret signing the letter.
Someone in particular discussed how it was (partially?) due to the impending snowstorms... you know, they were in a rush, didn't really think/talk it over enough, just signed it to get out and away before the snow.

"It was kind of a very rapid process. Everybody was looking forward to getting out of town because of the snowstorm. I think we probably should have had more discussion about it, given the blowback that there is." -McCain

Barbara Mikulski from Maryland is a long time senator whose retiring after her current term is finished. She has always cared about the people and I believe that Republicans and Democrats respect what she's done.

It just seems dishonest to set up a server in your own basement and then say this effort was done for "convenience".
Everybody needs the convenience of personal email at times. But for Hillary to use this basement server exclusively for all email, personal and State Department.....no way it was done for convenience.
Carly Fiorina, to me, summarized Hillary best saying....“Hillary must remember that activity is not accomplishment".
